Public policies in support of Information and Telecommunications Technologies (ICT) are essential to promote economic and social development, boosting competitiveness and innovation.

For ICT public policies to be effective, they must be integrated, collaborative and oriented towards sustainable results. Investing in smart infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation and improving cybersecurity not only increases competitiveness, but also improves the quality of life of citizens and strengthens the resilience of countries in the face of future technological challenges.

In the context of ICT, the development of smart infrastructures refers to telecommunications networks and technological systems that use sensors, data analytics and artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency and quality of services. For example, policies aimed at:

• Promote the expansion of fifth generation networks, which allow higher speeds and connectivity, benefiting sectors such as health, education and industry.
• Encourage the use of technology in public transportation: implementation of real-time monitoring technologies to improve traffic management, energy efficiency and road safety, etc.
• Development of smart cities: projects that integrate IoT (Internet of Things) to improve the management of urban resources such as water, electricity, garbage collection, and public safety.
