Novadays participates in a European consortium to improve security in critical infrastructures, such as large transnational tunnels.

12/04/2020
Novadays is developing, together with partners from France, Italy and Belgium, a project to improve the safety of European critical infrastructures against possible accidents and nuclear, chemical or bacteriological attacks. Large road and rail transport tunnels will be the first type of critical infrastructures where these improvements will be tested.

The initiative is being developed within the framework of the European Commission's new policies to promote security and defense, which has set among its objectives the protection of this type of infrastructure, promoting various measures to ensure that the different Member States coordinate their actions in this area.

The Transnational Tunnel operational CBRN Risk Mitigation project will focus over the next two years on analyzing the response to this type of risk in the main European tunnels, including the Frejus and Montblanc tunnels. These risks can be caused both by external agents and by accidents in the transport of dangerous goods, as well as by threats of deliberate attacks.

The safety of these infrastructures is a key element not only for those that are already operating, but especially for those that will be designed, built and operated in the future. Novadays will incorporate the knowledge generated in this project as an essential part in the risk analysis of these infrastructures.
