Women in innovation and technology, the first meeting of the Madrid Innovation debates

13/03/2023

Bringing the debate closer to the entrepreneurial world is a way to promote and create synergies, share experiences and enrich themselves, both at the level of the profession and at the level of their own perception and how to approach it.

Madrid Innovation, the digital hub that brings together the entire innovation ecosystem of the city, which we have promoted for the Madrid City Council, has held its first discussion meeting between entrepreneurs.

The theme of this first meeting was the role of women and their presence in innovation and technology, which was held at the headquarters of the International Lab.

It has brought together two round tables of women with great experience in the technology sector. During the debate, topics such as the socialization of roles at an early age, the design of spaces in schools or the choice of professional career at a young age have been exposed as factors that influence women to be more or less present in STEAM fields.

The experience of the entrepreneurs and their journey up to the present moment, had a good inspirational component for the attendees who were starting their startups.

Among the speakers were Carolina García Gómez, Director of New Business and Innovation at IKEA, Marta Huidobro, President of Women Angels for STEAM and Patricia Gabaldón, Academic Director of IE University and Professor of Economics, Ana Pérez, aerospace engineer and CEO of Forest Chain, Gisela Ortiz, CEO of Biotapass, and Oriana Circelli, civil engineer and CEO of WoWplay. The meeting was moderated by the General Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council, Fernando Herrero.

Madrid Innovation thus kicks off its series of debates that will continue throughout the year.
