The role of the administration in the promotion of the circular economy

07/08/2025

Public administration plays a crucial role in the transformation of society. It validates it through the design of public policies, awareness campaigns and incentives to facilitate the process, among other things.

However, in order to be able to execute these initiatives, it is not enough to have a good design and an action plan for their deployment. The agents involved in their implementation must be very knowledgeable about the context in which they operate and have access to information and training.

With this premise, among others, Novadays develops the collaborative platform Ecosystem for Circular Public Procurement (ECPC) so that public procurement processes can rely on it to do so with a circular perspective.

ECPC is presented as a space in which to share knowledge, interact and learn about regulations and advances in the circular economy. In short, this platform helps the administration to lead this transformation towards sustainable policies and actions, enabling and supporting it in whatever is needed.

The democratization of access to information has brought many advantages to the system, but it is important to be able to have it ordered, selected and cared for so that it is useful and functions as a guide.

The public administration, with its policies and actions, responds to society by spearheading the changes that are taking place towards a circular and responsible economy.

The Ecosystem for Circular Public Procurement and this article have been prepared in the framework of the project "Digital transformation of public procurement processes for the promotion of Circular Public Procurement" (EXP/EC/2023/00313), which is a beneficiary of the call for grants for the promotion of the Circular Economy in business for the year 2022 in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.
