On Monday, Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida presented Sandbox Madrid, an initiative that turns the city into a "testing ground" for trialing technology projects in real-world conditions, with the aim of making Madrid "the ideal ecosystem for innovation, learning, and experimentation."

Almeida presented the initiative at an event in Plaza de la Villa attended by digital transformation expert Marc Vidal. The mayor, accompanied by the deputy mayor, Inma Sanz, and the councilor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Ángel Niño, emphasized that the city offers "a privileged field of experimentation." He also highlighted the importance of "public-private collaboration to grow together."

Under the slogan "The future is tested in Madrid," the project seeks to accelerate innovation in a responsible manner and position the capital as an international benchmark for economic growth and talent attraction, allowing solutions to social and technological challenges to be validated before they are implemented.
