Sandbox Madrid call for innovative projects from private sector entities now open

TheMadrid City Councilhas opened the application period for participation in the Sandbox Madrid public call, aimed at private sector entities, both domestic and foreign, interested in accessing the city's controlled testing environment for the development of innovative projects. The deadline for submitting applications is March 2, 2026.

The aim of this call for proposals is to enable technology projects to test the technical viability of their solutions in a real, controlled environment and to obtain relevant information for their future development. The initiative is part of the municipal strategy to promote public-private partnerships and seeks to encourage technological development applied to improving the quality of life of citizens.

Requirements for participation and submission of applications

Thecallis aimed at individuals or legal entities in the private sector who wish to participate in the technological development of the city of Madrid (Sandbox Madrid). Projects applying for access to the controlled testing environment must be related to one of the following areas: sustainability, circular economy, and energy.

Applicationsmay be submitted electronically via the electronic registry, available in the'Process online'section of the Madrid City Council's website, requiring identification and an electronic signature. It will also be possible to complete the process in person at the Madrid City Council's registry assistance offices, at the registries of other public administrations, or by any of the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
