Civil UAVs Initiative: new high-tech infrastructure for CIAR

23/03/2023

The Civil UAVs Initiative has become in a very short time an important reference, both nationally and internationally, both for the degree of specialization in the drone industry and its applications, as well as for the novelty of the use of innovative public procurement to achieve these milestones.

The accumulated successes are many, and to these must be added the recent incorporation of new high-tech infrastructures at the Rozas Airborne Research Center (CIAR), the epicenter of all the Initiative's technical innovations.

Thus, the 5G and cybersecurity laboratory has been developed in this center.

The incorporation of 5G as a communication system between UAVs and operators has been conceived as something of vital importance to complement and complete the traditional communication systems (radioelectric) in a fluid, dynamic and secure way.

The laboratory will have all the necessary elements to test and characterize different models and technologies for the use of 5G communications in the UAVS sector, in order to provide secure communication and control channels. To make this possible, it will intervene on network infrastructures, antennas, etc. to make an effective deployment for this type of use.

On the other hand, and in order to guarantee the security of flights and vertiports, a cybersecurity system is being implemented to effectively hinder the various types of cyber-attacks on communications and satellite positioning systems that could jeopardize the control and navigation of UAVS.

For Novadays these technological incorporations represent a new milestone and a consolidation of the company's commitment to innovation and the application of high technology in public services.
