Towards improved water cycle management through digitization

10/02/2024

Last year was one of the driest and hottest years on record. The impact of climate change is being seen in high temperatures, extreme weather events and increasing difficulties in managing the water cycle.

Water is one of the most valuable and necessary natural resources for human beings, so its management by the responsible public entities addresses the important challenge of optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of this management in the face of increasingly uncertain situations.

The application of high technology has much to contribute to improving the water cycle, from catchment to household distribution. The challenge facing the Administration in water management is enormous, so it is essential to have the right tools to structure, implement and execute major investment programs in the coming years.

As an expert in public management, Novadays has launched for Augas de Galicia a technical office with the aim of achieving advanced integrated management to optimize water resources. With the investments managed is intended to provide long-term response to the demands of the different uses of water, in balance with the natural environment and river ecosystems, respecting the achievement of environmental objectives established for water bodies and addressing the new scenarios determined by climate change.

Novadays accompanies Augas de Galicia in the insertion of artificial intelligence in water management, an element that allows improvements in energy efficiency and purification efficiency of WWTPs, process automation and anticipation of decision making as well as the automatic integration of meteorology in the water cycle. The availability of real-time information through detailed monitoring of the different parameters of water resources is essential to achieve energy savings, better management of extreme weather events and sanitary improvements.

Novadays brings to this project all its know how about programming processes, implementation and execution of investments, its knowledge in the application of high technology to digitize public services and its technical expertise in the management of the water cycle.

Water optimization becomes key to better system performance and responsible water use.
