Astillero San Enrique (Vigo) and the Spanish engineering firm BlueNewables have signed a collaboration agreement for the construction and commissioning of the floating solar prototype PV-bos (1 MW). The purpose of the agreement is "the design, development, construction and implementation of a floating photovoltaic platform specially adapted to the open sea". The prototype will be installed and tested in the waters of the Port of Valencia, which, according to San Enrique, will host "the largest marine solar energy project in the world".

The total investment of this research and development project, the execution of which begins in March, exceeds four million euros "and will allow the incorporation of 60 workers", reports Astilleros San Enrique. The PV-bos platform is a float that will support a deck on which the solar panels will be installed. In addition," reports Astillero San Enrique, "the project includes the implementation of a technical room where the inverters and transformers will be installed to test the results of the prototype and to feed the energy generated into the Port of Valencia's grid. The Spanish engineering firm BlueNewables, which will be in charge of the entire design and development of the floating solution, will also ensure that the platform complies with safety regulations, so that safe working on it is guaranteed.
