The Ribera Market in Bilbao saves 30% of energy in one year with Iberdrola's solar installation.

The solar photovoltaic installation of the municipal market of La Ribera that was implemented by the City of Bilbao through Bilbao Zerbitzuak and Iberdrola has already completed one year, generating savings of 30% of the total energy consumed by the market, 5% more than initially planned. This was announced this morning at a press conference by the Councilor for Health and Consumption of the City Council of Bilbao, Álvaro Pérez, together with Eduardo Lobato, Iberdrola's Commercial Delegate in the Basque Country, and the manager of Bilbao Zerbitzuak, José Antonio Fernández.

"This system is a step towards decarbonization and reduction of energy consumption in the municipal market of La Ribera. Since March 26, 2023 when it was put into operation, the energy produced has been 92.05 MWh, of which 86.9% has been consumed in the Market while 13.1% has been reverted to the grid. More specifically, the energy consumed by the Market was 267.18 MWh, with 29.9% coming from solar panels and 70.1% supplied by the grid. This represents a reduction of 40.8% compared to the year 2022," said the mayor.
