The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, presented on Tuesday the first hydrogen production and supply plant in the region, with capacity to refuel up to eight buses a day, although it will start with one, specifically with the urban line 2 of Coslada.

The objective of this hydrogen plant is to supply public transport companies, Ayuso detailed after visiting the facilities in this municipality in the eastern area, where he assured that "in the future this energy can be a great ally to decarbonize key sectors such as industry or transport".

The construction of this plant has been executed and operated in the municipality of Coslada by HVR Energy and the electricity and water reach the electrolyzer module, with a capacity to produce 70 kilos of green hydrogen per day in its initial phase -in a second expansion it will reach a capacity of up to 280-.

"This project aims to demonstrate the technical, operational and economic feasibility of using green hydrogen as a fuel for urban and interurban transport," said Diaz Ayuso, who explained that transport accounts for 52 percent of direct emissions in the region.

He has advocated a policy of "incentives" to help families and companies to buy all types of electric vehicles, installing recharging points, subsidizing car and motorcycle sharing or the withdrawal of highly polluting vehicles.

FIRST BUS REFUELED WITH GREEN HYDROGEN IN COSLADA

The first fuel cell bus refueled in this plant will have more than 70 expeditions per week covering more than 118,000 kilometers and will serve more than 137,000 passengers per year, will serve the urban line 2 of Coslada, which is in charge of the company Avanza.
