On May 10, the General State Administration, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Island Council of La Gomera signed an action protocol to develop the 'Gomera 36' strategy, which contains policies for the period 2023-2036 for the island's ecological and digital transition.

The objective of the action protocol on the 'Gomera 36' strategy is to reflect the willingness of the parties to collaborate in the implementation of this initiative. Promoted by the Cabildo de La Gomera, it is configured as a long-term plan to move towards a resilient, digital and sustainable island through a series of actions integrated into three axes.

With the signing of the protocol, the will of the three administrations involved to develop collaboration mechanisms through several actions is made concrete: the promotion of economic contributions within the budgetary framework that governs at all times, the adoption of the corresponding legal instruments to carry out specific actions to develop at least one during the year 2023, and to have a monitoring committee as the body responsible for the development of the protocol.

Axes of the 'Gomera 36' strategy

The 'La Gomera, Digital and Intelligent' axis of the strategy includes actions aimed at achieving the socioeconomic transformation of the island through the digitalization of services and products.

On the other hand, 'La Gomera Ecológica y Circular' contains actions aimed at achieving a better use and enhancement of natural resources through the promotion and development of science and technology in order to contribute to a more balanced and sustainable relationship with the island's territory.

Finally, 'Resilient and Inclusive La Gomera' includes actions aimed at achieving a society more involved in the construction of the common good through outreach, sensitization and public awareness in areas such as sustainability, science and technology.
