Novadays creates new methodologies for risk analysis in the design, construction and operation of critical infrastructures.

Energy, telecommunications, industry and transportation infrastructures are key to the functioning of society and, therefore, their vulnerability is a cross-cutting and global public problem that affects all governments.

The European Commission has set among its priority policies those relating to security and emergency management, promoting coordination between the States that make up the European Union, with the aim of providing integrated responses, sharing best practices and creating homogeneous protocols that make it possible to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of pan-European actions. In the case of trans-European transport, telecommunications and energy networks, this is particularly necessary in the case of cross-border infrastructures. In the case of industry, critical industrial infrastructures (agri-food, medical devices, chemicals, etc.) also face this major challenge.

Novadays, together with five other European companies and organizations, proposed to the European Commission the creation of methodologies for analysis and risk management related to security in critical infrastructure, based on existing protocols and emergency plans, but creating from them new methodologies for analysis and intervention to minimize risks through prevention and mitigation measures. These risk matrices and methodologies will be tested in real and simulated scenarios in large cross-border tunnels between Spain and France and between France and Italy, with special analysis of scenarios linked to CNBR, nuclear, bacteriological, radiological and chemical accidents and attacks.

The creation of innovative risk methodologies for the study, prevention and mitigation of risks in critical infrastructures is an important step to minimize the risks that could lead to a disruption of the social and economic normality of our societies, due to the temporary or permanent unavailability of large transport infrastructures, telecommunication networks or power plants and energy networks. The methodology created by Novadays allows integrating this risk analysis in the process of design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of these infrastructures, from its first conception and throughout its life, making them more resilient and thus contributing to build a safer society.
