Autonomous Mobility

The AUTOMOST project, led by Avanza Group and whose project management office has been in charge of Novadays, has reached its climax with the launch of the autonomous bus of the company IRIZAR, created over the past two years by a large consortium of technology companies. The bus is the first of its size to travel the streets of a city in autonomous mode, and sets a precedent for how urban transport will change in the coming decades. The innovative nature of the project has attracted the attention of numerous national and international media.

The Malaga bus is the third use case deployed by Novadays since 2008 when it defined autonomous and electric mobility as one of the areas in which to focus its R&D efforts. The two previous cases were the autonomous bus operated by Novadays itself in the Miramon Technology Park (Donostia-San Sebastian) and the autonomous minibus operated by the company ALSA at the Autonomous University of Madrid. This accumulated experience is today of utmost importance for the provision of the company's services in areas such as transport and mobility policies or the digital transformation of public services.

On the other hand, the project is part of the support to Spanish companies in the development of new equipment, products and solutions, being this bus the first vehicle developed in Spain to circulate on the road without driver. In this sense, Novadays has not only participated as a technology partner of the project, developing the management system on demand of the service, but has also provided Project Management support to a broad consortium of companies and technology centers.

In addition to Avanza, Irizar and Novadays, the project has involved Tecnalia, Datik, Etralux, Masermic, Insitu, EMT and the Port of Malaga . These organizations have also been supported by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Insia, CEIT-IK4 and the University of Vigo.
